Coach supervision

What is ‘supervision' in coaching?

Coach supervisionSupervision on a 121 or group basis is the formal opportunity for coaches working with clients to share, in confidence, your current issues in order to gain insight, support and direction for themselves and thereby enabling them to better work in the service of their clients. It is also an opportunity to review your ethical practice and to promote trust with your clients.

As a coach you have the professional capacity to help bring about important changes for individuals, groups and organisations, however your work can also deeply influence people who are in a life-changing situation or transition and who may be feeling vulnerable and possibly dependent.

I help coaches to have regular supervision, and can provide supervision certificates to support your practice and proof of your ongoing CPD.

I'm qualified and accredited as a coach supervisor through the Coaching Supervision Academy, and I receive regular supervision myself.

A super-visor creates 'super-vision' (great insight) for the coach, and:

  • a safe place to reflect and explore ideas, concerns and successes in an honest way
  • a chance to refresh and polish your coaching tools and skills, such as provocative questions
  • an opportunity to identify potential interventions to help your next session go that bit better
  • a space to challenge any habits and patterns you’ve fallen into, such as collusion or getting ‘hooked’ by your clients
  • new insights, spotting hidden strengths, exploring development areas, such as:
    • building your internal supervisor
    • deepening your coaching presence
